January 2011 Topic: Social Media Exploration
Explore the nuances of the top four social media topics of the year: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and WordPress. We will split our group into four tables with two 'panelists' at each who will 1) address the usage and etiquette of the social media platform, 2) give 2-3 hints, tips, 3) successful application of this platform and 4) answer any questions you may have.
We opened the meeting with the introduction of John Bickford, owner of North Georgia Leisure (online) Magazine. (Also on Facebook) He discussed the purpose of NGLeisure - reporting on all things "leisure" from midtown to the mountains". John announced the start of the "Cabbage Patch Tour" to raise money to purchase Cabbage Patch Dolls for children of active military personnel. They will have 6 to 8 dinner events at local restaurants and bring in local artists every Tuesday and Thursday through February and they are looking for sponsors. It takes approx $60 to buy one doll. Kris McInerny spoke about the importance of checking the Cobb Social Media Meetup Site for notifications as well as searching Twitter for #CobbSM where we share ideas and praise for accomplishments. A voting sheet was passed out to determine the next 4 meeting topics.
Kris is still working on pulling together the data on the 4 groups - links will be listed below when completed.
